Sodium hexafluorocilicate is typically used as an additive for; water fluoridation, opal glass, ore refining, fluoride chemical production (e.g. sodium fluoride, magnesium silicofluoride, cryolite, aluminum fluoride). It is also used as viscosity modifier for solution, suspension or emulsion and as dispersing aid for insoluble solids. Forms a gel in water.
