Kit #2: A Solution for Chrome-Free Surface Treatment

Hexavalent chromium has been substantially restricted under EU REACH for years, and scrutiny is extending to broader chromium chemistry across surface treatment applications. For metal finishing operations, automotive suppliers, and aluminium fabricators, the transition from chrome-based processes are happening now. W&F aims to support these customers with the full transition, not just one piece of it, with these surface treatment products.

W&F is now launching its chrome-free surface treatment kit! At its foundation are two well established products in modern chrome-free conversion coating chemistry; Ammonium fluorozirconate and Ammonium fluorotitanate. Fluorozirconate is the standard for steel and zinc substrates; fluorotitanate delivers superior performance on aluminium.

Furthermore, with products as Sodium hexafluorosilicate, Phosphoric acid, Disodium phosphate, and Sodium gluconate we complete the bath chemistry — covering surface activation, pH control, and complexation. We can also offer biodegradable chelating agents, such as Tetrasodium glutamate diacetate (GLDA), which provides a sustainable alternative to conventional phosphate-based pre-cleaning chemistry.

Finally, completing the kit are Silane coupling agents — available across coupling, crosslinking, monomer, and polymer grades — deliver the adhesion promotion step that makes the difference between a coating that performs and one that does not.

The result is a full process sequence: clean, convert, and promote adhesion, all from one supplier.
